    UAE President receives European Council President

    His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met today with Charles Michel, President of the European Council. He is visiting the UAE on an official business trip. As part of the meeting, the sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between UAE and EU member countries. Several regional and international issues of mutual concern were discussed between the UAE President and Michel. During the meeting, participants discussed the importance of hosting the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference in 2023 as well as the UAE Net Zero Initiative by 2050.

    UAE President receives European Council PresidentThey also discussed the UAE’s proactive efforts and role in helping accelerate the clean energy transition and curb climate change by promoting clean, sustainable energy solutions worldwide. Aside from discussing the UAE’s distinctive development model and economy, the meeting highlighted the amount of non-oil trade between the UAE and the European Union in 2021, totaling US$51 billion, with over 250,000 Europeans living in the UAE and over four million European tourists visiting. Further, the sides underscored the close ties between the UAE and EU countries. This was done to highlight the shared desire to expand and develop these ties to benefit both peoples, and to help achieve world peace, security, stability, and prosperity.
